Every summer my family takes a trip down to Newport, CA for a week. It is honestly one of my favorite weeks of the year. It is so laid back, with no schedules. The week consists of bikes rides down the boardwalk, daily stops at Seaside Donuts, riding the waves, shopping, finding good places to eat, a good amount of aloe vera, and walks to the 7/11 across the street for some DC (the cashier may or may not know us now). We got there the first day and went and explored Crystal Cove. Such a cute little beach town! We went and had milkshakes at Ruby's Shake Shack that overlooked the ocean. So pretty. Every morning, Clark and I would either go for a run down the boardwalk, or we did a little Insanity workout on the beach (we love our insanity gym class). My dad even came and did it with me one morning. Afterwards, we would go to the beach. We brought our boogie boards and we all just love to ride the waves in. My dad and Clark body surfed a lot too. They got pretty good at it I must say! Clark went and surfed one morning at Doheny with his friend Jake that is from that area.
Every night our family would ride our bikes down the boardwalk. We had my music speaker and would blast music as we were riding. Brittany was having the time of her life when the music blaring. She was dancing on her bike and swinging both of her legs from side to side on the bike. She's in her own little world sometimes haha. But it was hilarious and we love her. We grilled at our beach house and also ate out at some goood places. Some that I love down in Newport is Sessions. They have HUGE salads and really yummy sandwiches. Of course, I love Banzai Bowls. We went and tried Press Juicery. Not everyone in my family loved it, but I love frozen yogurt and this is just a healthier version of it! I really liked it. We also like to go to Great Mex. It's a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant by Balboa Pier. Great classic fast Mexican food.
Family vacations mean a little more to me now than before. The older I get, the more I realize that time isn't as slow as it always seemed. My twin sisters move up to Provo this year for school and that leaves my youngest sister the last one in the house. As everyone grows older and they go off and start on their own adventures, it makes it that much more special when we all get to be together. I love my sisters and as time goes on the more I realize that they are really my best friends and I am so glad I have four sisters to hang out with forever.
